American Music Awards Move To November
With the Grammy Awards moving up a few weeks to February 8 (CelebrityAccess, April 17), the American Music Awards are also moving their show up but by about two months. Instead of the usual second Monday of January, the AMA's will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2003.
"The feeling was that the show should go back into a "sweeps" month where it had been until a few years back," Paul Shefrin, AMA spokesperson told CelebrityAccess. "Because February is overloaded with major award shows (Oscars, Grammys, etc.) the decision was made to go to the November "sweeps" period. However, since ABC has Monday Night Football in November, this also meant changing the day (almost all AMAs have been on Mondays). So the date became Sunday, November 16. The intention is to keep it in November in the future.
