Harvey Goldsmith Announces Plans For Earth Aid Live Concerts in 2025
LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — Harvey Goldsmith, the legendary British concert promoter behind the London edition of the Live Aid concerts in 1985, announced he’s reviving the concept to take a stand against climate change.
According to The Guardian, the Earth Aid Live concerts will take place on August 2nd and 3rd 2025 across five continents and in six cities, including London, Los Angeles, and Rio de Janeiro, with additional locations and lineups still to be announced in the lead-up to the event.
“We are standing on the brink of a historic moment with this revolutionary global event series, heralding a new era marked by unity, sustainability, and a profound positive impact on the planet,” Goldsmith told The Guardian. “Building on what we have already achieved with Live Aid, our aspiration is to unite people from all walks of life in the shared mission of bettering our world.”
The concerts will be an evolution from traditional fundraising efforts such as Live Aid and will seek to inspire “individual action, community engagement, corporate participation, and intergovernmental collaboration” The Guardian reported.
Additionally, organizers will seek to ensure that the event will have zero net carbon impact on the global climate and will rely on transparent carbon reporting.
The 1985 Live Aid concerts, organized by Goldsmith, Bob Geldof, and Midge Ure, were cultural touchstones that were watched by more than 160,000 fans in London and Philadelphia, as well as a further two billion who tuned in to watch on television around the world. The events raised $127 million for victims of the Ethiopian famine.
