There are many myths and rumours stereotypically attached to those who are left handed, some backed up with scientific evidence, and some not. First off, one myth about being left handed is that the person is more intelligent and creative, when in fact a left-handed person’s brain is simply less likely to be left-hemisphere dominant.

The right side of the brain, which is more likely to be the dominant side, controls the left side of the body and is used for performing tasks that have to do with creativity and the arts. Another myth about left handed people is that they die at a younger age and suffer more immune diseases, when in fact left and right handed people alike get more mixed-handed as they get older.

In a 2007 study, Tobias Kalisch and his colleagues recruited 60 participants of a range of ages, all right-handed. When their handedness was tested via tasks, the older participants showed higher levels of ambidexterity.

However, this was unfortunately due to them losing superiority in their dominant hand over time. A final myth about left-handedness is that left handed people are treated unfairly, when in fact left handedness is a major advantage in many sports such as boxing and fencing.

Kim Kardashian Being Right Handed

Despite people’s fascination with both left-handedness and Kim Kardashian, the reality television star is not left-handed. There is a lot of evidence to show Kim is right handed.

For example, she can be seen using her right hand to sign autographs for fans outside Jimmy Kimmel Live. Using a black Sharpie pen Kim scribbles down her name on photographs of herself held out to her (with her right hand of course) and pauses now and again to take selfies with the group of screaming fans.

Even though Kim is not left handed, Kanye West, father to her four children, was born left handed. Kim reveals in a video posted on Twitter that Kanye was born left-handed but his mom made him use his right hand.

It seems now that the celebrity rapper is ambidextrous, claiming to write predominantly with his right hand, but says he’s able to write with his left also, only “not as well.”

Celebrities You Didn’t Know Are Left Handed

There are many celebrity lefties that you may not have heard of. Lisa Kudrow, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence, just to name a few. Lady Gaga, interestingly, signs autographs with her left hand but plays guitar with her right.

Justin Bieber, another lefty, once said that he first played guitar with his right hand, “because that was all … my mom had, a right-handed guitar in the house. I picked it up left-handed. My mom would switch it the other way and I would switch it right back to the other way and try to play. It was difficult because it’s backwards. My mom, I think it was for my birthday, she bought me a left-handed guitar. And so ever since I was young I learned on a left-handed guitar.”

Mary-Jane Olsen is also left-handed, however, her twin sister, Ashley Olsen is right-handed. And a couple more for good measure, Angelina Jolie and Barrack Obama, are both left-handed too.

So, although Kim Kardashian is definitely a righty, she probably has many lefty celebrity pals, and Kanye being born a lefty means that there is a good chance that one of their four children will turn out to be left-handed also.
