The Weeknd Marks New Era With Album "dawn FM"
Before singles from his 2020 album After Hours had left the airwaves, The Weeknd started the new year off with yet another album, dawn FM. While fans of the Canadian artist had always been keen to sleuth out his hints and clues leading to new tracks, this time around, he shared his plans to release the upcoming album via Instagram.
On New Years Day, The Weeknd said in a text shared to Instagram, “Music can heal and that feels more important than another album rollout. Let’s just drop the whole thing and enjoy it with the people.”
Shortly after, he announced a release date of January 7th, with a minute-long teaser video.
Presenting an album packed with 16 tracks, dawn FM treated listeners to a smooth, yet dynamic ride, with a radio show theme flowing through from beginning to end for what fans have called another no-skip experience. Yet again, The Weeknd has presented fresh sounds inspired by older influences ready to become a fixture in charts and playlists alike. Known for integrating visual themes into music videos and live performances, we can’t wait to see how The Weeknd invites us into this new universe.
