Vicente Fernandez Performs Farewell Show
MEXICO CITY (CelebrityAccess) — Mexico's ranchero legend Vicente Fernandez said goodbye to his fans at a packed free concert at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City on Saturday.
"I have no words to express all that I feel. I'll see you in the Azteca!" the singer wrote on his Twitter account prior to the show.
Fernandez announced plans to retire in 2012, but was unable to perform a farewell show until now due to health issues.
Fernandez, also called as "Chente," is known as the The King of Ranchera, a genre of traditional Mexican music that predates the revolution. With record sales topping 70 million and a career spanning more than half a century, Fernandez is inextricably linked to Ranchero and mariachi music.
Some of his most popular hits include: "Volver, Volver," "Las Llaves de Mi Alma," "Lastima que Seas Ajena," "Aca entre Nos," "El Rey," "Estos Celos," "Cruz de Olvido," "De Que Manera Te Olvido," "Mujeres Divinas," "Me Voy a Quitar de en Medio" and "Hermoso Cariño."
